Tanya Bertier
Dramatic Mezzo Soprano
Biography
A new voice in the American opera scene, Tanya Bertier made her US debut performing the roles of the Witch and Gertrude in the opera Hansel und Gretel at the New York Opera Forum and the New York Lyric Opera, respectively.
Recently she has been chosen as a finalist of Wagner, Strauss and Mahler International Vocal Competition.
Originally from Ukraine, she immigrated to Israel for a number of years. At the beginning of her professional life, she performed in Israel as lyric mezzo soprano in roles including Carmen (Carmen), Polina (Pique Dame), and Veronica (Doctor Miracle). Tanya has also performed numerous solo recitals across Israel. With time and experience, her voice has evolved to full dramatic mezzo.
Her sizable voice is well suited for dramatic roles, including recent performances as Santuzza from Cavalleria Rusticana and Erda from Das Rheingold. Tanya’s current repertoire also contains Wagner roles including Fricka from Die Walküre, Waltraute from Götterdämmerung, and Azucena from Il Trovatore.
Recently Tanya has performed in the roles of Madame de la Haltiere (Cendrillon), Third Lady (The Magic Flute), La Principessa (Suor Angelica), and has made her debut at Carnegie Hall in the Opera Showcase program.
This year Tanya made “Migration and Memory” solo recital with Ballets Russes Art Initiavive organization.
