Praised by the press as having a “radiant Tenor voice,” George Vincent Humphrey has “inspired enthusiasm in the audience … through his fabulous tonal qualities.” Now a Heldentenor, and also a Character Tenor, Mr. Humphrey has performed such varied roles as Siegfried in Siegfried and Götterdämmerung, Tristan in Tristan, Florestan in Fidelio, Canio in I Pagliacci, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, and Sam Polk in Carlisle Floyd’s Susanna. Other lead roles include Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos), Don José (Carmen), Alfredo (Traviata), L’Aumonier (Dialogues of the Carmelites), the Duke (Rigoletto), and Manrico (Il Trovatore).
Mr. Humphrey was delighted to make his debut with the Bavarian State Opera in Munich (Marstalltheater) in February, 2011, in Benjamin Fleischmann’s opera Rothschild’s Violin (arr. by Shostakovich). He began the 2010/11 season by singing Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos and later returned to the US to sing recitals in Colorado and Chicago and continued the following year 2011/2012 by further performances of Don José in Ireland, concerts throughout Germany and Austria.
Mr. Humphrey began his 2012/13 season singing Das Lied von der Erde with Maestro Gustav Kuhn in Doppiaco, the town where Mahler actually composed the work. He continued a busy schedule with concerts throughout Germany, returned for further performances of Das Lied von der Erde in Italy and ended the season with his debut at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl, with performances of the Duke (Rigoletto), and Tosca, as well as covering both Manrico (Il Trovatore) and Ismael (Nabucco). Maestro Kuhn immediately reengaged him, where he revised the role of the Duke (Rigoletto) at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl in 2013. This production was recorded by the Austrian broadcasting company SERVUS TV, as part of the KULTUR series hosted by Ian Hollander. In the 2014/15 season, George made his debut as Florestan (Fidelio), Ismael in Nabucco, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, as well as Siegfried in Götterdämmerung and covered Tristan (Tristan) at the summer festival in Erl. In the 2015/16 season George revised Siegfried in Götterdämmerung, covered Siegfried in Siegfried, and Tristan in Tristan. He then performed Siegfried on tour in China, and continued the year with performances of singing Ismael, and Siegfried, a number of concerts with the festival, as well as with the fabled ensemble The Shepherds. Mr. Humphrey was asked to step in to sing Tristan at the Theaters of Passau and Landshut in the spring of 2016. He enjoyed revising Siegfried at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl the following three summers, performed it again at Erl in the summer of 2018, where he covered the role of Tannhäuser. In 2018 George traveled to Macedonia, where he performed Beethoven’s 9th, and covered Rodolfo in Erl. Later that season he returned to the US, to sing recitals to critical acclaim. In spring of 2019, George covered both the role of Parsifal and performed the role of Hoffegut in Die Vögel, at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl. He has been invited back to Erl, beginning in 2021, to sing Mime in The Ring directed by Brigitte Fassbaender.
George has just recorded the song: Gina Maria on the CD Herzperlen on Sony Music.

Alfred, in Die Fledermaus
Absoluter „Bringer“ war George V. Humphrey als schmetternder und verliebter Tenor. (The absolute triumph, however, was George V. Humphrey, as the bombastic and besotted Tenor).
Dachauer Nachrichten, Sept. 21,2009
Don José, in Carmen
George Vincent Humphrey gibt der Figur des Don José eine eigene Tragik. Er ist rasend eifersüchtig, lässt sich komplett zum Idioten abstempeln und muss am Ende mit der
Verzweiflung leben, Carmen getötet zu haben.
Dachauer Nachrichten, Nov. 2008
Alfredo, in La Traviata
Tenor, George Vincent Humphrey’s flamboyant portrayal of the self-obsessed Italian tenor Alfredo, tossing off phrases from “Traviata,” provided enough comic energy to get us through the first act.
Denver Post
George Humphrey proved that he is an excellent singer … (and one) whose Tenor voice incited his audience to wild enthusiasm. The precise technical execution of the music and the fabulous tonal quality of his voice, garnered Mr. Humphrey a standing ovation, which he so rightly deserved.
